Here's what you'll need:
- a large, really clean glass jar (a big pickle jar works well)
- a really clean lid
- charcoal (so it won't go moldy)
- sterile potting soil
- bottled water
- a few small china or plastic ornaments you'd like to add
Put a 1/2 inch of charcoal at the bottom of the jar and add soil until the jar is 1/4 full.
Make a Hole for each of your plants, put them in the jar and pat down soil around them.
Add ornaments if you like
Pour in a 1/2 cup of water (less if you use a smaller jar), and put on the lid.
Here's what'll happen:
The water will be sucked up through the plants' roots. The plants will "breathe" out the water from their leaves and then the water will evaporate.
The air won't be able to hold the moisture so the water will go back down to the soil. It won't really rain, but water might drip down the sides of the jar.
